New Name and New Look!

The Art in Public Places Committee, along with the City of Kettering team, have rebranded the public art program for the first time in it's history!  CitySites is now Art in Public Places, and a new mission, vision and goals are guiding the future of the public art collection, alongside the City of Kettering's updated Strategic Plan, published in 2024.

Rosewood Arts Center Public Artwork

The Art in Public Places program is commissioning a new artwork by Sujin Lim, to be located at the entrance of Rosewood Arts Center.  In 2023, over 30 artists responded to a RFP to create a permanent outdoor artwork at Rosewood Arts Center. Sujin Lim's proposal Silver Lining in Good Company was selected due to it's playfulness, welcoming nature, and relationship to the landscaping, facility and the collection.

Kettering Rocks! International Stone Symposium Artwork Maintenance

Through September and October 2023, a team of professional public art conservationists treated and cleaned the limestone sculptures of the 2002 Kettering Rocks! Stone Symposium.  This was the first cleaning in over 20 years, and while the darkening of the stone is a normal part of the process of the material aging, the special treatment brightened the sculptures back up to how they looked several decades ago!
