Kettering Fitness Spotlight: Colleen McCoart!

Posted on August 8, 2024

Colleen has been a member of the Kettering Recreation Complex for about 20 years now and thoroughly enjoys the variety of Drop-In Group Exercise Classes and also uses the swimming pool. She is a retired nurse and a small business owner of resale vintage and antique items. Colleen also loves to refinish furniture.
Colleen’s fitness progress of working out and swimming helps her to feel and look her best. She recently decided to push herself a little more by attending Boot Camp Classes, which has been a nice variety of different exercises and really a good change in her fitness routine. The Kettering Rec Center has so many weekly drop-in exercise classes to choose from, and each class and each certified instructor helps Colleen in different ways. She also always enjoys her classes with instructor Sherri Raderstorf.
Colleen’s fitness goals include increasing the weights portion of classes, and she recently added intermittent running, which surprised her that she did not hate this different form of exercise. Something new and different are the Boot Camp Classes for her to experience. Unfortunately, a recent injury has caused Colleen to back off a bit from exercise classes for time to heal. Thankfully, she’s had the swimming pool for lap swims, and she does miss her friends in the drop-in classes and all of their workouts together, which helps this exercise journey a bit more fun. Colleen can’t wait to return to her weekly workouts in the Group Exercise Studios. She is grateful for this lifestyle of her fitness journey at the Kettering Recreation Complex.
Colleen will always have the need to work out and exercise, which is so good for her physically and mentally, with her appreciation to the quality instructors that the Kettering Rec Center has to offer!
