Garry Muldoon began his fitness journey at Kettering Recreation Complex in 2010, first using the indoor track before purchasing his yearly Fitness Pass in 2011. Every May, he renews this pass as his “gift of health.”
Despite facing numerous heart and circulation issues over the years, Garry has maintained his fitness routine. “Without my strength training, cardio and weight control goals that was set for me when I joined the Fitness Center, I would not have the healthy body and mind that I have today,” he shares.
At 69, Garry continues to participate in 5K races and has completed two Flying Pig Half Marathons. As a heart attack survivor, he participates in the Dayton Heart Walk annually, describing these accomplishments as “pure triumph.”
Garry values the friendships formed at the center: “The people that I have met and friends I’ve made while working out at the Rec are some of the best folks in the world. Their motivation and accountability to my fitness goals keep me on my toes.”
His twice-weekly workouts combining track walking and strength training have become his “pay-off to taking care of myself and staying healthy for day to day life challenges.” Garry is a true asset and inspiration to our fitness family!
