As the PRCA department secretary, Lindsey Whitley plays a key role in keeping everything running smoothly from day to day. She assists every patron who calls, emails and visits the PRCA administrative office, plus supports our PRCA Director. “I love working with and helping people!” Whitley said. “I work with the staff, citizens, volunteers and Board members.”

During the shutdown, when the majority of our staff were sent to work from home, Whitley was an essential worker here in the office. “[During the pandemic] the impact on me was different than on most people. I reported to work every day and answered all the calls in each division and helped out in other departments,” she explained. “I had to adapt to a new way of working – more talking on the phone, answering emails, setting up Zoom meetings.”

“I’m proud of the way PRCA was able to adapt and still offer events for citizens,” Whitley said of the shutdown period. “Staff created new ideas that kept the community engaged while socially distanced.”  Her favorite programs offered during the pandemic were our Community Scavenger Hunt, Virtual Art on the Commons and Best in Snow. Whitley is also proud of the way that staff rose to the challenge of helping the community and each other. “We helped serve food with the Kettering Backpack Program, and the Kettering Parks Foundation raised money for this program as well,” she said. “And we adapted to Zoom to connect with staff and board members.”

Whitley’s knowledge, skills and positivity are tremendous assets to PRCA!
