Over a year ago, when the pandemic drastically changed our lives, Benee Peavy found a new service that would change hers: the CIL Senior Transportation provided through Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts. Running on weekdays, the program provides door-to-door service to shopping and personal appointments throughout Kettering.
“With this service, I was able to get to my doctors’ appointments and the grocery store,” said Peavy. “It has helped me remain independent; I don’t know how I would have gotten around otherwise.” Peavy noted the care staff provide in the service; she always has help in loading and unloading groceries from the vehicle, and enjoys the friendships she has made with the drivers.
One of her drivers is Carolyn Eisen, a retired Dayton Public School bus driver. Peavy said: “Carolyn is my buddy; she helps me a lot. They are all like family to me!”
